Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jatara: Sammakka Sarakka is a tribal festival and also a mela, held at Medaram village of Warangal district in Andhra Pradesh, India. This mela is popularly called as Sammakka Jatara, Medaram Jatara, Sammakka Sarakka Festival & Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jatara.
Sammakka Sarakka is a huge festival of Telangana people that marks the fight of Sammakka and Saralamma (a mother and daughter) with the powerful rulers against an unfair law. It is a 3 days festival starts at Medaram in Tadvai mandal that held once in 2 years. It is a major festival/Jatara after kumbh mela that attracts millions of people all over the country. As per the records, the previous Jatara which was held in 2012 had 10 million devotees visited/attended this Jatara.
Sammakka Sarakka Jatara dates 2014: This Year Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jatara/Festival will be held from February 12 - 15 2014 (Magha Sudha Pournami Days).
Nearby Accommodation: During Sammakka Sarakka fair temple offers accommodation facilities for the tourists in a small Dharma Sathram & number of temporary huts, tent accommodation (paid) are raised by the locals, for the benefit of the devotees. One can also stay in the hotels of the nearest big town Warangal.
How to Go/Reach Sammakka Sarakka: Sammakka Sarakka temple is located in Medaram village of Warangal District in A.P. It is located at a distance of about 95 kms from Warangal and 240 kms from its state capital city, Hyderabad. APSRTC runs number of special buses from all the major towns of Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh.
